What it is — and what it isn’t
USAR documents confirm your animal’s registered status in our registry and reference the Fair Housing Act, which is where emotional support animals have protection. They are not medical documentation, a diagnosis, or an ESA letter, and no registry — ours included — is required by law. An ESA is not a service animal, so ESAs do not carry ADA public-access rights in stores, restaurants, or other public places, and since the Department of Transportation’s 2021 rule change, airlines are no longer required to carry them in the cabin. A landlord may still ask for information from a licensed healthcare professional when a disability isn’t observable — that has to come from a provider. See our ESA Letter Resources page.
