What it is — and what it isn’t
USAR documents confirm your animal’s registered status in our registry and reference the Fair Housing Act, which is where emotional support animals have protection. They are not medical documentation, a diagnosis, or an ESA letter, and no registry — ours included — is required by law. An ESA is not a service animal, so ESAs do not carry ADA public-access rights in stores, restaurants, or other public places; and since the Department of Transportation’s 2021 rule change, airlines are no longer required to carry emotional support animals in the cabin, and most now treat them as pets. A landlord may still ask for information from a licensed healthcare professional when a disability isn’t observable — that letter has to come from a provider, not a registry.
